"I'll pray for you" but do you really mean it?

"I'll pray for you" but do you really mean it?
I was reading some old Twitter comments from celebs in regards to Michael Jackson's death and some of the most scandalous, godless living of the group say "My prayers are with your family" it made me stop and wonder.
How many people say they will pray for you or others and never do.

Is "My prayers are with you" equivalent to "I don't know what to tell you so I'll choose a standard quote"?

If I tell a person I will pray for them I either do it on the spot or make a note somewhere to bring them before the LORD later. I always pray in my mind as soon as something comes up.

How do you feel about people telling you that they will pray for you, does it comfort you at all or do you feel like it's ineffective?

I think it's more of a "I hope this makes you feel better"

Most of the time, I'll say a quick prayer right then and there. If the problem is more serious it may bother me enough to add to my list of people that I pray for regularly.

Either way - any little bit helps! It shows our love for each other and "God is Love" as the Scriptures teach. It is good for the servant to emulate the Master.

Most of the time, it is not genuine. In my religion, if you say that you are going to pray for someone, then you have to do it.

This has become a common phrase that people say. Most of the time, these people never even pray. However, don't brush off everyone who says this to you. There are genuine souls out there who care about you and do have you in their prayers.

It's something you say when you want to help but can't or don't really care but want to look concerned.

If I say that I will I usually try to do so. Quite often it is right then in my mind and then when I have a quiet moment (AND I can remember) I will actually get down on my knees and pray a heartfelt prayer.

I guess it does make me feel a little better when people say they will, at least I know they are trying to be compassionate. If they do then that's wonderful, if not then I'm not any worse off. Smile
