What is the most discreet way to send someone a message on facebook?

I want to send a friend a message about something private and personal and I don't want anyone else to see it but them. What is the best way to do so and can the sent version of the message be deleted after I send it?

You would simply have to send them a message. As long as you're not on your phone, you can delete the sent message by opening the message icon and hovering your cursor over the right side of the message until you see a cross. Click that and the message will be deleted. Though if you're that concerned, a text or phone call may be best.
