Wouldn't you pity the poor soul tasked with reforming social security?
I mean, politically, you lose no matter what you do.
If you maintain the status quo, you're forced to pay more. If you privatize it, you run the risk of huge losses in value (because the stock market was obviously so nice to pension funds and 401ks in 2007) If you cut it or get rid of it, the elderly will vote you out with a vengeance. Is there really any way to win in this situation? Ads |

Just cut off people making over some level of income like 1 million a year, they don't need it. Social Security is insurance for retirement, not an entitlement. You pay for the insurance policy, it's not like an investment account! This would fix the program immediately.
