Facebook showing my friends aren't online.?

I usually talk to one of my friends on face book but it isn't showing she's online. But when I click on her name it says active now. Why is this?

When you go offline to a person in chat they can't see if your online or not unless they message you an d you write back or even accidentally click on the chat bar where you type in your reply or so forth when you click on that bar and your offline to someone the other person will see a thing that says seen at so and so time whichever time it is when you click on it is the time it says
