When Facebook was founded there were efforts to prevent spambots from taking over such as was one of the many downfalls of MySpace. There was also a rule that you had to be affiliated with a certain exclusive list of college email addresses. That eventually became relaxed but the air of exclusivity still permeates the site. If your profile does not contain an actual picture of you, or if your content (pictures and text) contain advertising at all or do not portray enough value to the site or break NY other terms of service, you can be banned. The term of service it sounds like you broke is having duplicate accounts. This is discouraged because Facebook discourages spammers and cheaters. No matter what your motives were, duplicate accounts do not add value to the site (since you can only use one of them at a time) and are therefore banned. If you want to portray different messages to different groups of friends then you must activate privacy filters.
