Can a Group page on Facebook be used as a blog platform?

I love sports, very out spoken about what goes on with all my teams, the league, etc. I vent out a lot of facebook about my teams, the league, etc. A few people have told me I should think about writing a blog or something, one person said I should start a Group page on facebook and I could use that like a blog platform. Is that what's the purpose of Group pages on FB? Could I create one that focuses on Sports in general? Who would be able to read them? Only people I know? Is it possible to have people I don't know read my posts? Are people able to comment on my posts?

Or is it easier to just start a blog and If I want I could always post the link to my blog on my personal facebook page as well?

If I want ro start a Sports Blog, any suggestions on a good blog platform? Something very simple to use but attractive to readers eyes. I also would like to get my blog out there, noticed by many people, what's a good way to do that? ANY IDEAS?

No, don't use facebook as a blog platform. It's just.... it's kind of like twitter.

Get a blog on wordpress or blogspot, the create a fan page on facebook for your blog, and post your articles onto your fan page! That way you have all your blog articles organized, and people can actually find your blog and your articles on google and yahoo and bing, but they're also showing up on facebook.

You can get a TOTALLY FREE wordpress blog (yourblog.wordpress.com) or a free blogspot blog (yourblog.blogspot.com).

However, if you want spend just a little more, you can buy your own domain name (mostly they go for about $12 for a year, but there are ways to get domain names for $0.50 - 0.99!!


You can get really cheap hosting too, for only about $3-4 month for the lowest plan on hostgator to $6 for a plan that allows you to have several websites.

Buying your own domain and hosting is better in the long rum because it belongs to YOU and you can put as much advertising or sell as much as you want on it.

After you get your own domain and hosting account, you can still use a free template for wordpress, if you want to go that route.

Of course, you don't have to pay for your own domain and hosting if you don't want to. But if you do, you can monetize your blog and start earning some money from it eventually, especially if you write about a popular topic and people like your writing.

In SEO (search engine optimization) terms, facebook is simply a tool to promote things like your blog. But it's not lasting. You can't organize your posts. It's not unique to you. And you can't monetize. With a blog (free OR self hosted and with your own domain), you are building your own brand, and you have something to show. You can even use your posts in the future to show your experience in a certain area.

I think you should create a blog, and then post the posts to facebook and have your friends and fans comment on the links on facebook as well as your blog.
