Facebook won't let me post?

I had a Facebook account a long time ago but never used it. I finally broke down and got back on after my friends being so annoying. Anyway, I wanted to say something, but when I clicked "post" it just did a quick loading sign next to it then stopped and remained a text box that you can type in. The pages load fine, but when I click "add friend" or try to type something, it just does a loading sign then stops. Anyone know what this is?
