Instagram not letting me post captions for my photos, need help!?

So on instagram I choose the photo from my photos, I click next after sometimes adding a filter, and then I write out a caption for a photo. Sometimes it is long and sometimes it is short, but no matter what it doesn't stay after I hit post. The picture shows up in my home feed, but with no comment. The picture shows up in my profile, but without the comment. I've had problems with people because I reposted something without giving credit when I did put it in the caption. I need help!!!
