How can I make my Etsy shop more popular?
I have recently opened an Etsy store selling polymer clay charms etc that I have made. Why has no body bought anything? Its really getting me down, I've put so much effort into it, I've always wanted to have an Etsy shop. I've been making polymer clay charms for a few years now, and I don't think I'm terrible. Why aren't people interested in buying? I advertise all of my things on you tube under a channel of the same name... I know my video quality isn't that good but there's nothing I can do about that. That's why I also have a deviant art account so people can see my creation in more detail. How can I make my Etsy store more popular? Thanks Smile xx

They look so cool! You have major talent! I wish I had money to buy some lol, I'm just 14. You could post it on social sites and tell people you know, and make flyers. Also I will tell people on my facebook, twitter, and youtube. I hope this helps Bye!

Hi, there's nothing wrong with your craftwork. They're really nice!

The main problem is as follows...

When people start a commercial website they sit back and *expect* lots of customers. A recent authoritive estimate is that, in the first six months, 97 per cent of such sites make absolutely nothing.

Indeed, other than Amazon and a very few others, other successful e-commerce sites are doing well with only a 3% 'sales conversion rate'.

There are 3 levels of e-tailing:
(1) hosting platforms like Etsy;
(2) CMSs (Content Management Systems) like Wordpress; and
(3) fully bespoke (tailored) websites.

The 3rd type are expensive to develop and can be quite complicated. The 2nd option is a safe bet, where a modest amount of income can regularly be received.

If you have some money to spend, and significant time to learn, I advise try Wordpress. And use it's choice of e-commerce plug-ins to create your shopping cart, payment gateway, etc.

Meantime, and even with the 2nd and 3rd methods, use the 'social media' to liaise with your potential customers plus also past customers. As below :-

Twitter:

Use this blogger to drive people to your web presences, using short adverts and offering special deals.

However, not too often or it will be reported as spam. Therefore also do your news or retweet (RT) other peoples' tweets.

Pinterest:

Use this blogger to showcase your designs using a montage of spectacular photographs.

Facebook:

Use this blogger to create a fan base plus show your human side. Also, on your timeline advertise your handiwork, with links to the Wordpress blog.

Do note, on Twitter, it is vital you use #hashtags. It amazes me how many businesses do not!

An example tweet:

"#America #USA #US #Japanese style #Kawaai cute clay characters on sale here [short URL]"

lastly, do remember to use the same name tag on all your platforms. To maintain uniformity and lessen confusion.

If you don't mind I will tweet to my Twitter followers right now.

Good luck....
