Novel publishing help?
Hi,

I was wondering a few things

First if all how do you go about self publishing your own book?

Second of all if your book is self published is it even possible to get it into big bookstores?

And finally whether or not the novel is published or self published is it possible to donate a certain amount of the book profit to a charity e.g 10 percent to whatever charity. Oh and does it make sense to make a Facebook page just for your writing.

Thanks In advance 5 stars for best answer 😁

There aren't a lot of people who are successful self-publishers. Most people read the stuff that's shoved under their noses, which is aided by the advertisement only a large publishing company can get you. That being said, you can Google self-publishing websites, but I would pay attention to terms and conditions to avoid scams.

You can use Amazon's service, or the like. You can set pricing and whatnot
You can use a Vanity Press (pay them to print)
You can use Office Depot/Office Max/Staples/Kinkos

Very very very very unlikely.

Probably easier to just donate the % yourself as you receive royalties

Sure., why not?
Make a blog to keep fans/readers updated and provide a community forum
Make a vlog on YT

Good Luck

Find a Self-Publishing company
Have your manuscript ready in a document format, and make sure it is errer free.
Configure your document, make sure that the layout is mirrored, and reduce the size of the outer margin.
Then convert it to PDF.
Upload your PDF file to the website of the Self-Publishing company, they will do the printing and bindings for you, but you have to pay them.
Once they finished printing and binding your books, you will be the one to decide on what to do with the books.
If you want your Self Published book to be in the bookstore, you have to contact the bookstore (you may need to promote your book to show that you are serious about getting your book into a store).

You can do it through Amazon--Google KDP select and follow the steps. No, you can't generally get self published books in big bookstores. And eitherway, yes you can donate. Just wait until the royalties are transferred into your account then make a donation to your chosen charity. Many people make facebook pages for their writing/them as an author but it makes sense to build up a fan base first.

Yes you should make a Facebook author page.
No it will not get into big bookstores, and no it is not possible, unless you sell 40,000 copies (literally) and then agents and big publishers will want to buy it off you and get it into stores. But if you sell less than that they probably won't. I saw an agent saying not to write to her about your "successful self published book" if it sold less than 40,000 copies.

I am not self published. I have been professionally published, however it is absolute nonsense for people to still be saying there aren't many successful self publishers. There are a lot. However the successful ones are those who used FREE self publishing like Nook.Press etc.. no one who pays the terrible scam money charging companies is successful because those take all your rights and rip you off and overprice your book. So use Createspace or Nook.press, Non scam companies.
