Why do I have to belong to Facebook to post comments on articles?
All paths, Google, Yahoo, etc. to log in to comment lead to try to opening Facebook, then disappear. I don't use Facebook, because I don't want to give up privacy rights. This requirement is nothing less than extortion of privacy rights for free speech. Well Yahoo?
MIsleading comment below. You do give up your rights to privacy automatically. The information is sold and accumulated at companies like Choicepoint and others for the government and corporations to buy when wanted. Regardless, you shouldn't be FORCED to join a social nework to post on an article. The media outlet has your ISP address and the identity information of those posting. Stating it's needed to identify the comment poster is a lie, which media outlets have contended in the past. They are forcing privacy rights to be given away (and information sold) and trying to boost the IPO price of Facebook at it's initial offering by forcing people to join and offering contests. It's disgusting. Again, why Yahoo?

You don't give up your privacy rights once you join Facebook if you take 10 minutes to properly set up your privacy options. And the fact that tons of people are tying in to Facebook is an indication that it's more than just a social network. Facebook applications are going to be around for a long time, and businesses aren't going to set up their own social networks when they can tap in to the largest social network in existence right now and make it easier to access their content from Facebook.
