How do I stop my Facebook from showing up on google searches?
I like having my privacy and only having my friends "friending" me on Facebook. However, I did a google search on myself, and the number #3 hit was my Facebook page, including my profile picture and pictures of my friends. I tried going through all the security things on my page and making sure they were "friends only" but that didn't change the google thing. I don't want potential employers to find my Facebook page. Is there anything I can do short of cancelling my account?

Even if you cancel your account Facebook can still keep and sell all of your information and pictures. This is generally done to agencies that do background checks for potential employers.

Yup, the answer above mine is correct. Go to your Search Privacy settings:
http://www.facebook.com/privacy/?ref=mb#...iew=search The last portion of the screen says "Public Search Listing." UNCHECK that last box and click the blue Save Changes button when you're done. Now you shouldn't show up in search engines such as Google when people search for your name on such sites. |
