Explain Turow's Quote?
In “Breaking Up America,†Joseph Turow writes that target marketing
"[. . .] portends terrific things. If we can afford to pay [. . .] we will be able to receive all the news, information, and entertainment we like. [. . . ] The benefit to us individuals could have potentially harmful effects on society [. . .] [because] [c]ustomized media allow, even encourage, individuals to live in their own personally constructed worlds, separate from people and issues they don’t care about and don’t want to be bothered with. [. . . ] This kind of distancing may further exacerbate social tensions and make it harder to carry out basic democratic processes.†Please explain the quote in parts, while applying a sociological perspective.
