facebook said that they are making changes to all profiles gradually.

remember when they introduced the new sidebar for the chat?
it appeared to be optional however no matter how many times i clicked in no.
they made my profile have it.
so based on that
im guessing yes it will be mandatory.

Yes, it is mandatory for a Facebook user to use timeline. As of now you can activate it right now,you have the choice to turn it on but after a while they will just turn it on for you. Also Don't worry it wont make everything public at all (depends on your privacy settings), as a matter of fact just today I activated the timeline.

Check out the following two websites for more info on privacy and using this new feature:

http://www.cio.com/article/690742/Facebo...Adjust_Now

Honestly if you follow the steps shown in the above websites you will be good! Again, there is nothing to worry about as long as you privacy settings are good you will be perfectly safe! Enjoy!

Although for the moment Facebook did not make a clear statement about the deployment of the upgrade in any of its official pages, and as a consequence there is a lot of false information going around, experienced users know that Facebook upgrades of this size are never optional.

Besides, there are clear evidences that indicate that there will be no way to go back to the old Profile. Take a look at the article in the source to see what those evidences are.

Facebook give you a choice as to if you want to use a new feature? Have they ever let you have a choice before? I didn't want to use the new sidebar for chat, clicked no every time I was asked, still ended up with it. I didn't want my location shown on my posts. Clicked no every time asked. And yet.... Facebook decides to force that upon me as well.

So, yes, Facebook will force this upon us as well, whether we want it or not.
