Why has not everyone been switched to Facebook 'timeline'?

I am aware this might seem like a minor issue, but it is something I am absolutely appalled by and would like to disover answers to. I am a regular Facebook user and my profile has recently been automatically switched to the new 'timeline'. This change was made without my consent - I logged in one fine, sunny morning, expecting to see my usual, humble profile, when I was horrified to see the utterly unpleasant, complicated 'timeline' had taken its place. I strongly dislike the new layout and am considering deactivating my Facebook account because of this ridiculous absurdity.

A couple of negative aspects on 'timeline' that I cannot stand are the fact that my activity is scattered randomly about the page in no definite chronological order. Another thing I loathe about it is the 'cover photo' - an overly large area for users to post a photo that, in my opinion, takes up too much space and distracts you from the actual person's profile picture. The last thing I hate is that there are about ten different advertisements on my page.

Not one of my Facebook friends have been switched to 'timeline' - they still have the previous profile layout (which, may I say, I was genuinely happy with). My question to you Facebook lovers is, why has not everyone been given 'timeline' yet? I was extremely disappointed to not have a say in the conversion of my profile.

When will everyone have 'timeline'? Or will the Facebook crew come up with something even more undesirable for us?

eventually everyone will be forced to use timeline - but not all on the same day - they convert people in batches every day - facebook has a lot of users, so this process takes much time

only u can see the new profile, it will only automatically change everyones at the same time on a certain date but it says on the profile it only looks like that to yourself UNLESS u accidentally clicked the button to update it before the automatic change. it did not change without ur permission. i only just made a fb account for the first time ever last week and i hardly ever use it yet i know more than you, damn..ppl are dumb

If you play certain games or apps on facebook it makes you get the timeline. It warns you but realy easy to miss.
