Should I message her again?

When I went to visit my sister a while back I met her housemates, I got really close to one that night but obviously I eventually had to leave. I added her on Facebook but it took me too long to notice her come online so I decided to message her.

The problem is, I sent her something I realise I totally shouldn't have, I meant to say it as a joke (it wasn't a joke about her or anything) but it could have also been taken out of context and looked really bad, which it did.

I felt like a complete idiot for not seeing it earlier and believe I honestly ruined whatever could have been between is. So I kinda think it's best for me to pop up to her again and tell her I didn't mean that how she made it out.

Is this a good idea?

Yeah, why not? Would you rather have her think you're a freak or reassure her telling her it was just a joke and your telling her since it looks really bad for you? Of course though with the second option in your own words.
