I GOT SUSPENDED FOR 10 DAYS TODAY!!?

Okay hello I am 17 years old and in 11th grade. Me and my friend joke around ALL THE TIME ON FACEBOOK. I joke a lot I have a good sense of humor I posted something on Facebook and said if I don't get presents from all the men and girls on valentines day at my school . Then I said stitches lay in ditches. And serious consequences will be done. Then a picture of a ghetto 10 year old with a gun. Like seriously he was 10 and I found it off Google images. The next day our school goes into lock down and questions my friend who was tagged into the post who comment one word on the post. I was not there yesterday. So I come into school today and act like I'm crazy. Only An idiot would take that post seriously .they said I could get felony charges. And they suspended me for 10 days! What do you actually think of this? Isn't this all kind of ridiculous. I'm a 5'4 girl who weighs 130 and my friend is 110 pounds and 5'4 so how could we even possibly do that.? What do you think?

I think that you should know what the rules are at your school and what behaviors are in violation of those rules. I can't imagine that the school had a set of rules and never communicated them to the students and the parents.

Do I think the rules are stupid? Yes. But I'm not the one who determines the school rules and neither are you.

I think that you're being fairly punished for essentially threatening your school, regardless of it being a joke. It was in poor taste and you know it. Grow up.

Well learn quickly as soon you will be an adult and it won't be suspension from school but arrest by the police if you continue what you call 'joking around'..maybe that is what you need to make you come to your senses.........

Your story strains credulity.

Assuming it is true, though, the school took appropriate action. They would have been remiss in their duties had they simply assumed a potential threat was a joke.

On your end, you have to learn how to use better judgement. With everyone on the alert for any kind of potential school shooting, you were unwise to even joke about the subject.

As far as your alleged gender (you have a male icon) and size goes, your "joke" involved a firearm. You don't have to be big to shoot someone.

By posting what you did, could be considered making terroristic threats, which is a felony . With past school shootings and the innocent lives that have been lost with students threatening to bring guns and shoot people, any type of threats with gun violence is taken very seriously. You are lucky you are only being suspended for 10 days. I know in the former court i worked in, you would be charged as an adult, since you are 17 and would be charged with a felony. Gun violence threats in a school is a very serious matter and not ridiculous. If you seriously think what you did is ridiculous and see nothing wrong with what you did, then you need some serious mental health issues and hopefully your parents will get you the mental help you need. Hopefully the courts in your area will see you are a threat to society and charge you with a felony. Maybe then you will take your actions more seriously.

You know what I do when posting something as a joke that may be taken seriously? I simply add the 'phrase' /jk. If you couldn't be bothered to take such a simple precaution so other people weren't alarmed by your words, then you have no reason to complain about your punishment.
