There are lots of good rappers, but to stand out in this time I think speaking out about real subjects is key. Speaking to the soul of people and not the physical culture. What do all humans desire? God we need more people speaking up and not just fitting in.

One of the best ways to "get discovered" is to build a reputation where you are grow from there because these days, when music doesn't sell as much as it used to, record labels are looking for signs that show you will be a success - like a following on social media, the ability to sell tickets to shows, music that you have released and sold on your own, and a great stage presence. Start working on developing these things.
Work on your songs and your performance. Book live shows (you can start just by asking you high school if you could use the auditorium and hanging up posters around school or going to a local open mic night) and ask for feedback from people around you you trust to be honest with you. Use social media sites and music pages like SoundCloud to put your music online and get it out there. Learn how the music business works by reading blogs and books about it and learning as much as you can so you will know how to be professional and avoid signing a bad deal. Since you are in school still, look into music education programs and camps like GRAMMY Camp to spend your summers learning and gaining new skills. Get affordable recording software like Logic student a decent microphone like a Shure SM58 mic to make decent recordings in your bedroom (the mic and logic student only cost a couple hundred dollars all together but they are what the pros use). Take music classes at your school to learn to play instruments and study music theory so you can compose music and beats to rap over. Connect with other rappers by going to shows and introducing yourself and ask to collaborate. Collaborating will help you develop skills but also reach potential fans by releasing music with an artist that already has an established fan base. You are still very young so if you start doing these things now you have plenty of time to build up a following and get noticed.

Good luck and great job getting started so early! Be sure to build a team around you of supporters who will have your back and encourage you because the music industry is tough but with support, luck, hard work, and determination it is possible.
