A good one is social media, how companies use it to market their products in a much more direct and personal way.
The key to social media marketing is its interactive aspect, the fact that anyone can post a comment, question, feedback or complaint and the company can respond. Also social media is a perfect means for "word to mouth" though it takes the form of reposting. Many companies have contest "Like this picture for your chance to win an iPad" and for the price for an iPad or two get hundreds of thousands of people reposting the image and hence millions of people seeing it.

The problem with social media is that as everyone jumped of the bandwagon and did such promo activities as i just mentioned above, the market got saturated and people see too many companies of twitter/Facebook/instagram...just as now most companies are on TV. They are all still good places to advertise but they constantly need to differentiate themselves from competitors.
