Republicans would find ways to blame it on Democrats.

That would have been an unmitigated disaster.

Considering that social security is insolvent, and the market is down 30%
I think 70% of something is much better than 100% of nothing - which is what we'll get when we retire SS is bankrupt WE WILL GET NOTHING! Thanks Liberal Scum ! |

Short term panic. Long term nothing. The stock market has never lost money over any 10 year period.
But that isn't the problem with social security. The problem is there is no money. Money paid in this week, goes out next week. It never has a chance to earn interest. In the stock market or any other place. |

I am willing to bet that there would be more money left than if the government just spent it on other things, like they did!

Your contributions would have been looted by Goldman Sucks, JP Morgan Chase, George Soros, et al. Why do you think the finance parasites have pushed so hard for Social Security "reform?"

If it was held into a private account with your name on it? Most people could retire on 5-10 times the money they are getting from SSI.
Go back and crunch the numbers. Congress borrowed (stole they didn't ask my permission) our SSI money but did they pay us back with interest? |

We would still be better off than we are now. Have you calculated the rate of return you will get on your Socialist Security money? I am earning big time negative (as in sinking fast, submerging growth) interest.
Investing in SS is kind of like buying stock in the Titantic AFTER it hit the ice berg. |

We may have the extra money to pay for Obamacare if you libs want that kind of thing because you cant keep putting huge program on top of huge program, one of major safety nets is going to run out of money so we may still have to privatize one of them.
but sure a few seniors would be sol |
