Maybe you need to read less biased news, but SS is in far more trouble than the stock market.

Maybe you need to stop listening to the people telling you how everyone would have lost all their money had this passed. That is the most ridiculous comment I have heard. Only the years of input would have been affected by the market, so if you were 1 year away from retirement, you would have only had 1/30th (assuming 30 years paying into SS) affected.

Let's also not overlook the fact that conventional wisdom has ALWAYS been to move your investments into very low risk areas between 5-10 years from retirement, so even in a total privatized SS, anyone with an ounce of intelligence would not have been affected.

You know there is not a 30 year period in the history of SS where the S&P index has not considerably out earned gains in SS. Look it up, even if you had started investing 30 years ago today 100% in stocks, you STILL would be getting more benefits than SS will pay.
