Assuming you're asking how they make money; they charge advertisers to advertise on their websites. If you've ever been to Facebook or MySpace, you'll notice that there are a lot of advertisements on the page; MySpace's are usually in the form of banners, Facebook has a lot sidebar advertisements. Due to the popularity of these sites, they can charge a lot for advertisements; since companies know that a lot of people use the websites and would be exposed to the ads.
