Are events of a religious nature allowed to be posted on Facebook?

I set up an event because I have a relative that's an ordained minister and he's starting an independent church in which to have services. I posted this as an event on Facebook and have received some criticism from my so-called "friends" about posting it. What's it to them? If they don't agree, why go out of their way to criticize?

It's allowed but not recommended. Religion should be kept in churches where it belongs and not flaunted in public.
