I'm trying to expand, and buying one is just easier. It's too time consuming and I'd like a decent amount of followers. Any suggestions besides eBay would be appreciated.
I know they're free. I'm talking about one with many followers that I'm able to tweet immediately. I don't have the time to sit at a computer and add several people when I can just buy one for more business.

I don't where you can buy a Twitter account that already has a high number of followers, but I'm sure there are sites out there. But the real question is, Why would you want to buy a Twitter account? It would be very hard to even find a Twitter account that has a specific follower base. I mean, if your business, for example, is selling beauty supplies, you want followers that are interested in beauty; but if your business sells sports gear, then you want followers that are interested in sports. See the dilemma?

You could hire a Social Marketing agency that handles your Twitter account for you, if you have the budget. I suggest you start a Twitter account yourself, and grow it organically. There are ways to grow your follower base pretty rapidly. You could also hire someone else to do it for you.

In addition to Twitter, create a Facebook page for your business to increase awareness. Also, you should list your business online, specifically on websites that direct users to local businesses in their area. Zipzoom.com is actually a pretty cool online service; it is an online shopping website where users/customers can search for local businesses that offer products and services ranging from babysitters to electricians to flowers. Users can communicate directly with businesses they choose to buy services/products from after getting recommendations from zipzoom.com, and from there, your business can gain business. Usually, I believe they charge vendors for signing up, but since they're new, they are offering a special promotion for vendors who are interested: register as a vendor for free. It's a good option for those who are on a tight budget but still need exposure to grow their business. If this is something that appeals to you, you should just try it out and see what happens.

Good luck!

Twitter is a short message communication tool that allows you to send out messages (tweets) up to 140 characters long to people who subscribe to you (followers).

Your tweets can include a link to any web content (blog post, website page, PDF document, etc.) or a photograph or video. If a picture is worth a thousand words, adding an image to a tweet greatly expands what you can share to beyond the 140-character limit for tweets.

People follow (subscribe) to your Twitter account, and you follow other people. This allows you to read, reply to and easily share their tweets with your followers (retweet).Step #1: Present Your BrandStep #2: Build a Strong FoundationStep #3: Start Following PeopleStep #4: Start TalkingStep #5: Talk SmarterStep #6: Drive Traffic to Your Website and BlogStep #7: Connect Your Online PresenceStep #8: Get Mobile With TwitterStep #9: Share Photographs in Your TweetsStep #10: Add Video to Your Twitter TimelineStep #11: Organize Your Followers Into Conversation ListsStep #12: Expand Your Audience With Hashtags
