How much do taxes take off your paycheck?
I live in California and I work at a market. I work 8 hours a day for 8 dollars an hour. I should be making a gross of 64 dollars a day, times that by 12 (I work 6 days a week, one day off), so that's 768 dollars. How much should my net pay be? I calculated it and I got 606 dollars, but some guys at my job aren't getting anything past 500 dollars, which confuses me.
Bi-weekly Gross Pay $768.00 Federal Withholding $84.77 Social Security $47.62 Medicare $11.14 California $10.38 CA SDI $7.68 Net Pay $606.41 Ads |

It will depend on what your withholding is. Those people are probably getting large checks during tax time from all that they paid in. If you pay minimum, you will take home more, but won't get anything back when you file.
Also, make sure you are accounting for state and federal taxes, as well as social security and medicare. Ads |
