Is it possible for an outgoing guy to get really quiet around the girl he really likes?

I always thought that boys who have a small crush on someone, or just like them as a friend/person, they typically still talk to them normally and can be themselves. They can laugh, joke, and even tease them. My crush even calls girls ugly. Lol. He's a dick, but in a playful way. He has NEVER insulted me in anyway. He practically avoids contact with me, YET follows me on instagram and we are friends on Facebook.
ANYWAYS...
I also think that if when a boy has really really strong feelings, they might even just close you off and avoid you. This happened to my friend a while ago, and now this guy is doing it to me. I'm the only person he doesn't talk to in a group chat in class or just in the hallway in the morning. It's weird. I mean, he confuses me. Who would avoid someone that is important to him? Now I'm confused about his feelings towards me. What do you think?

Yes there are many shy guys. They just need some breathing space from your end to feel comfy.

A guy can be really shy towards a girl he likes because if he finds her extremely beautiful.
He'll have trouble making eye contact with you and trouble talking to you.
The second to last woman I was attracted to, would pick up on whenever I would check her out and smile at me at times.
I ended up approaching her one night with a note that said that she was the most beautiful red haired woman that I've ever seen and maybe I'll talk to her some other time.
The next week I saw her, I overheard her talk about me to 2 of her friends.
One of them told her that I'm a stalker and laughed while I ended up hearing one of them say, "Just ignore him."
I felt bad after I overheard that conversation she had about me.
Well, she did 2 messed up things after I heard that conversation about me-she walked past me to strike up a conversation with a guy and when I went up to her to apologize for the note, she told me,"It was a little strange but don't worry about it" and walked away from me.
She didn't care that I found her so pretty that I was so shy to just have a normal conversation with her.
She works part-time at the gym I'm a member at.
I was first attracted to her when she was just a member and she used to be overweight when I first laid eyes on her.
I didn't even care that she used to be overweight or that she's almost 3 inches taller than me.
She's the only woman I've ever given a note to as I never did that when I was a teenager to a girl (yeah I get how giving a note is childish).
I've had 2 girlfriends and have been led on and rejected by women.
I don't have the whole approaching women down to a science.
There might still be times when I'll be really nervous when I find a woman really beautiful.
When I feel nervous around a particular woman, then I know I must be attracted to her.
You just maybe a really beautiful woman who makes guys nervous.
Hopefully, you don't think it's weird when a guy gets quiet when it comes to you.
Not all guys who are quiet when it comes to girls, are crazy.
