This guy likes me and I'm unsure what to do!?

I had only spoken to this guy on facebook and it was just a friendly conversation, then I bumped into him later in college and he spoke to me about everything for ages and he really interested in everything I said.

When I next spoke to him on facebook he started sending loads of 'x's and I have a feeling he likes me, but I like someone else. He seems like a really nice guy and he said he wants to sit with me more, but I would only want him as a friend and I'm worried he would try something on me later.

I haven't known him long and I shouldn't be making statements, but I'm concerned and I need advise to help me with making him realize I'm only interested in being friends, before he feels he's been played or anything!!
