With the markets in a meltdown, are you glad that GWB didn't get his hands on Social Security?

Hell yeah! Oh my god, I've already lost like 30% of both my Roth IRA and 401k even though I got index funds, emerging markets and a good mix of everything.

If we had privatized Social Security, what would have happened would be all these CEO's of bankrupt companies would be filthy rich on severance packages (because they ran their companies to the ground taking huge risks) while retirees of America would have to rely on whatever small fraction of their Social Security that is left over!

Thank goodness some people in Congress had enough sense to reject Bush's risky plan!

Corporate America's goals are to maximize their profits at any cost possible, whether it'd be outsourcing to developing countries, laying off experienced workers and/or cutting benefits. That's ok for them because that's what they are built to do, but for the Republicans to suggest tax cuts for corporations??? Are you kidding me? Do you think they be magnanimous and increase pay for the average worker bee or hire more workers out of the goodness of their hearts?

Or would they instead squeeze more production out of whatever workers they have and threaten layoffs due to "challenging" global conditions while the C-level executives rake in millions?

We need tax increases for the ultra rich and corporations, not tax cuts! Tax cuts are needed for the middle (and lower) class!
