should kids be allowed on facebook?
i have a protest project in social studies, im doing mine on facebook and i need some help! i believe facebook should be for adults only. facebook can be very helpful and help us Connect with other people but over-all i think teens abuse facebook. i think to many kids including teens abuse facebook because kids get cyber bullied, not many kids understand the policy and agreement issues, facebook apps can view all your privet information, many kids have friends on their facebook lists that they haven't met in person, you will never Truly be able to delete your facebook account, and facebook makes it essayer for predators to come after teens. i need more personal reasons for why facebook should only be for adults. any website links would help or interesting news.
*also do you think facebook can cause emotional damage to children?

personaly i dont thin so i think facebook has no point and thier are alot of creepy people out thier and some kids just dont know better wheather to add them or not, so its bad and most of thier friends probably dont have it. but it is a great way to keep track of your kids and see what thier up to.

I believe Facebook should be for people 16 and older. If this helps I also believe kids need to be limited on what kind of phone they get before 16 (example: they should only be allowed a limited amount of people that can contact them on a cell phone before 16)

well, obviously you want me to say no.
but i am of a different opinion, because many adults are not even CLOSE to understanding facebook. Are you telling me that YOU have read every single contract you agreed to on facebook? and with bullying, it's something that happens at school, why not ban school? online predators are able to target adults as well, and letting a child walk alone in the street is even more dangerous than anything facebook could do directly. All you need to do is educate children, one lecture with fear incorporated should do the trick. I know this because my school had one and it has made almost every student's account more secure and private.
Emotional damage is linked with cyberbullying. As I said before, ANY form of social network (eg: msn, skype, tumblr, etc.) can become a vector for cyberbullying.
an adult should be obligated to understand the risks, yes, but should also teach their children about dangers.

Short and Simple:

1. Facebook is not illegal for teens/kids. Good Luck getting that law passed.

2. You can probably get the school/business to have a internet filter to block Facebook, like most schools do.

3. Just because you think Facebook should be for only adults does not mean Facebook is going to remove all the teens/kids on there. That's were they get their $$$$.

4. Not everyone on Facebook, cyberbullies, abuse facebook, who cares about policy & agreement issues because that's their problem and Facebook's problem, parents are responsible for that.

5. True, you will never be able to really delete you Facebook account permanently but, who's going to go looking unless you broke the law or something. Predators are a different story, that's what parents & police are for.

6. No Facebook cannot cause emotional damage to children PEOPLE on Facebook can though.

Next time you want to protest something, think of all the problems/effects/ other sides of the story.

Your Welcome,

DaCow
