Why does my facebook app do this?

When I go to Apps>Chat its supposed to show Online friends and recent conversations, but it just brings me to my messages, whats wrong with it?
This is the reason I havent updated my Ipod facebook app in 2 years

Facebook apps act stupid. Most of the time when I try to read comments on a status it opens up Events. I open up something else and it opens messages and most of the time I do not get the updated msgs it says i have a new one but all i see is old ones. I have to keep pulling down till it finally updates
I think its just glitchy

Hi, You can read Facebook chat messages without reading notifications
And shows you all messages and all conversations that you have received in the past .
