Are there any social sites or chat rooms I can meet friends and ask questions?

I can't find one that is right for me.

I look at Google + but it is too public and someone else have to invite you. Plus, its boring if you have no friends. Facebook is too well known and insecure so thats out.

I want open chat to people and meet friends but at the same time I want some privacy.

Yes it all depends on your topic of choice. If you have different topics you can try these...ask.com, wiki.answers.com,answerbag.com,blurt it, anybody out there, funadvice,askville
help me ask desk,answer bank, askdeb.com, able2know.com , mahalo answers, answerly, aardvark
