How do I set up my own support page?
I am trained in Mental Health, I have also experienced issues myself. I currently work in children and youth area but my aim is to set up a support sysytem providing support to young people who are experience bullying, mental health issues and/or low self esteem.
Despite having the qualifications and experience I have no idea how to start this. I thought I could start small by setting up a facebook page where young people can join and seek support - I could provide information on where to seek professional help and provide ways to help beat cyberbullying etc. But eventually I would like to start raising money for other charities. Does this sound possible and can anyone provide advice or where I could get advice to help me?

First thing is to get an attorney who can help you determine what you can and can't offer on this website. The last thing you need is a lawsuit from the parents of a child who gets killed because she confronted a bully based on information on your website. You'll need to get specific wording from the attorney so you are covered.

A site that lists resources shouldn't be a problem, but make sure you get permission to list non-public resources on your website.

Tips on how to deal with bullying are great, as long as they are tried and true. You don't want to be straying too far outside of the accepted areas on this. And, obviously, you don't want to incite violence of any kind.

If you wish to have a forum, figure out how you will moderate it. Y!A is a great example of self-moderation and how it utterly fails. I strongly recommend *you* monitor it and possibly appoint others as assistant moderators. Yahoo does have a groups area that allows you, as the founder, to have all kinds of control over moderation, posts, and membership.

As far as cyberbullying, the number one recommendation for any child dealing with it is to have an honest conversation with their parents and to turn the computer and cell phone off. Real life friends are needed. Hobbies are needed. Don't get into this idea of "beating" cyberbullying. Get the child out of the situation. No Facebook, no fb bullying.

How are you going to make money from this? All the hours that you will put in alone just to create this website (or if someone does it for you), and you will have to deal with daily messages that you may receive.

It's good that you want to raise money for charitiies, but you have to eat first.
