Iphone apps, can someone answer this?

I was just curious...why they make "web page" apps? for instance...there's a ebay app, facebook app, apartment guide app, and many others.

The iphone has full blown internet, not some dumbed down "phone" internet with text only like phones of the past... so If i could just go to http://www.facebook.com on the iphone's web browser...then what is the purpous of having the apps for those websites?

The apps are just simple one touch loading. They are mostly better then the web versions due to easier navigation. So all info would then be at your fingertips.

Many of those apps are specialized apps for the product/webpage on which it is based & add some functionality & ease of use for them.

e.g. the Facebook app allows you to upload pics to a Mobile Uploads album.
