Coworker crush help?

I really like a co worker of mine. Well he is only partly a co worker, i only work with him for a couple months/year due to university taking up my time during term time (still live in same city). Im unsure if he likes me to, at times ive got the feeling he has been flirting with me, then at other times he doesnt seem to pay any attention to me at all. When i went back to work a couple weeks ago after a few months off (uni) he was joking around asking if id only gone back to work because i missed him. We were also talking in a group the other day about gyms and gym memberships and he said to me directly that i should feel his muscles. My boss has even commented in front of us both that we'd be a good match but he didnt say anything to that.

Im really unsure what to do, do you think he likes me? or just trying to be friendly? Do you think i should flirt a bit more? I know he is definitely single and has been for a while. Im naturally quite shy so i dont wanna come on too strong as it will be so obvious im flirting and into him when i aint even sure he's into me :/ Should i try talk to him away from work? like on facebook, but what would i say? please helppp!! xxx
