Pretty sure you deactivate your account, then have ~20 days to reactivate it or it gets deleted.

You can't delete it, just deactivate it. Then facebook will supposedly delete it after some time but there's no guarantee.

This is because stupid people use facebook and rage-quit, then the next day they change their mind.
