What is the social scene in Istanbul to rub elbows with rich and famous?
I am in the business of PR, marketing and advertising. Is it at all possible to meet any turkish celebrities in Istanbul? Which spots/events/restaurants do they go to? Is it a safe thing to do alone or better have some sort of a companion? I am interested in more conservative and cultural events for older/middle-aged people, rather than clubs and night life filled with young crowd and fashion industry insiders. Do they speak English in Istanbul at all?

A celebrity has a different definition for different people. Who would the older/middle-aged people be interested in?

Right now the hot spot seems to be Bodrum Türkbükü.

The older and mature celebrities avoid the crowd. I meet some from time to time in normal places like the street and coffee shops.

And, before working in a specific place, you have to have more information about the place. Asking if people speak English at all in Ä°stanbul shows that you haven't done your homework.

That's odd. The advertising business is usually localized and doesn't require traveling overseas to source for clients (the stronghold of established local competitors). And why are you interested only in the older rich people?

You previously asked a question about how not to look like a Natasha. Well, I would say just be yourself and you will reach the right target group.

OK...Here is just one way to meet all these people.
Go to Reina. It is a night club in Arnavutkoy. You could go there alone. People fit in your description will be there having a drink.
Make sure you take pride into your looks.
Most girls go there either top or leg decollete. If you go there alone or with another girl friend it will be easier for you to meet other people. Don't go with a guy they will presume that you have a bf or husband and will prevent you to reach your goal to go there. Friday and Saturday nights are the busiest.
Traffic is very bad in this area so don't drive parking is almost impossible. I'd say take cab but you can make it there on foot a lot quicker.
The other location is Bebek comes right after Arnavutkoy. You can see many celebrities around there if you pop into a night club or restaurant even in the waffle shops. Keep in mind it is the most expensive area in Istanbul.
If you spend some time in between Ortakoy where most of the night clubs are, and Bebek I am sure you get to meet with the crowd.

Yes, English is widely spoken in Istanbul especially in the areas I mentioned above.
Best of luck.

Hello!

Yes, it's possible to meet Turkish celebrities at such expensive establishments as Reina and such..but in summer time they all are in the south, in Bodrum.

Good luck!
