My Partner is a self employed multi trade builder, does anyone know the best way of advertising his services?
I have set him up a facebook page http://www.facebook.com/leahconstruction13
twitter Leah_Construct Own domain info@leah-construction.co.uk I have printed up flyers and posted them and have written to insurance companies to try and become an approved contractor. I would like to advertise to local people in London UK, Any ideas? Thanks Guys x Thanks Jan409 i will continue with the leaflets. I do have a landline set up too it hasn't made it onto the leaflet yet but that is a simple change Thank you for your advice i will certainly look into a website as he has very many happy customers that im sure would be willing to leave comments etc. This is his personal business card, we have a flyer with the landline number on and a list of services, which is what i use for advertising. He volunteered and painted a back room for a local cancer research branch and i have been advertising in shop windows, but i love the parish magazine idea! That's fantastic- Thanks Ads |

When my son started off as self employed (I.T. engineer), he put bundles of leaflets wherever he could
He put them in take- aways -chinese , indian, italian etc He put adverts in local free newspapers, He also had a website So think about a website, with testimonials included, as well as previous customers comments0genuine off course A website can include photos of work he has done along with the customers testimonial Once he does business for a company, ask the company if you can include them and their logo on the website Think about how you look for a tradesman yourself Where would you look ? A website is more professional than just an e.mail address A landline number also, is more professional than just a mobile Have a landline that diverts to the mobile, if that suits you better that's just a few idea of how my son got his business off the ground years ago UK Ads |

Sorry, don't know about advertising in London, thankfully i got out of there 20 years back.
Nice card, very well done in fact, BUT To me it immediately sends 2 messages ~ neither desirable. The first being that the business is a 'One Man Band' . Where is the Land line number which indicates an established business base ? The second being the Photo. A good image but more applicable to a Painter Decorator than a general multi- skilled builder. Painter Decorators are 10 a Penny (essential though they are). Insurance companies look for well established Contractors with proven track records. |

It is good flyer but it names him as the director. That makes it look like he does not do the work himslelf but is running a company of employees. Which is it?
Try your local area. Your local advertising magazines that are free from collection points locally. Is there a Parish Magazine for local people as they run local trade advertisements for very little charge. Corner shops and notice boards and advertising boards in supermarkets where business cards can be left. Building a solid local trade will work wonders as word of mouth will spread your business far quicker than hundreds of advertisements. Perhaps some charitable work with your local volunteer bureau and a few simple freebies with the elderly once a week will spread the word as well. |

Advertising Professionals recommend , that advertising is by links and images to show your partner work ,and posters ,and placed programs, Facebook , you tube socializing, internet ! do a video on you tube where he shows what makes partner. Doing a site, link them to publish in foreign newspapers and magazines!
