Why do I get so anxious and nervous when I come across popular social media channels?
I do not have any social media accounts like Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter, Youtube (I have an account but no uploaded videos and don't plan on uploading videos ever), etc. Okay so I used to have Facebook but I got so anxious, nervous, shaky, jealous, bitter, cynical, paranoid and just plain crazy when I came across people with dozens or hundreds of likes on their photos and statuses. I then deleted my account because I just got so all of the above feelings. Some studies show that Facebook does increase anxiety among users and this was definitely true for my case. Now some psychology plays in because my ex was one of those popular Facebook people getting many likes on his updates. I tried competing with him but couldn't keep up and when I saw other people amassing so many likes on their updates I just got bitter and deleted my Facebook. I guess this makes me a pretty shallow person haha... Now today I was on Youtube and came across a video with hundreds of thousands of views and this person's channel has 1 million+ views and I got all sweaty, nervous, and shaky again... Am I bitter, jealous, paranoid, anxious, easily startled, not cut out for this fast-paced social media world, or a combination of all of these? If anyone offered to star me in a video with 1 million+ views I believe I would decline the offer but why do I get so anxious, nervous, and sweaty when I see others with popular channels and pages? Diagnosis? Advice? Help!!?

You seem very anxious and have some jealousy there, especially when you mentioned you see other peoples status with many likes and delete your account.

Social networks are for fun, and you should enjoy it. Post videos you like, listen to music you love, and talk to cool people. You need to stop looking at numbers and start enjoying! Make new friends, and stop competing! Or else you will keep being the way you are. Getting likes on your facebook doesn't mean anything, you don't get a special award for that. Just ignore it, delete those people, and start talking to nicer people.
