Does Facebook Timeline or Newsfeed show when you log in?
I have a Facebook from college but rarely use it anymore. In fact I don't think I signed in for at least a year. A Facebook break has been good for me and I don't really miss it. I thought about deleting it but decided to keep it in case I ever want to go back to it.

So basically I have a profile that I just never use I don't want to get involved anytime soon, but I've also starting applying for other jobs. I want to log into my profile just to make sure it's "employer friendly" in case any employer asks to see my profile. But at the same time I don't want Timeline or Facebook in general to announce on my Newsfeed/Timeline I've signed on again. This sounds anti-social, but I don't want to start communicating on Facebook the one time I sign in because I don't intend to visit FB regularly. I think I remember that Messenger shows when you're online but I've already disabled that feature.

Thanks for your help!

I would strongly consider deactivating. That means no one can see your Facebook account, but you can always log back in if necessary. It would be like you didn't even have an account.

facebook does not do such a thing at all..!!
As you said, u have already signed off the fb chat ('messenger'), you need not worry. But yes, if you login and do some activity like liking someone's pic, or status or some other stuffs over other places on the internet that offer facebook likes or comments(today, most of the sites do) or login using facebook account it might just popup into ur friend's newsfeed, indicating them u r back and logged in..
in case of websites that require login using fb acc or apps on fb ask you for permission to post on ur behalf, if u uncheck that, there won't be any problem.. Smile
