New to Facebook, How to Get Friends?

Hi I just joined facebook, and I want my friends to know that I have it so that we can get in touch. Im not really sure how it works, because Ive heard people say that when they first join, they get tons of friend requests. the thing is, how will people know that I've joined? Do I need to send requests to all of my friends? Or will they somehow find me?

If you have your friends' emails you can request them to be your friends that way.

Search for people and send them a friend request. Friends of the person you befriended will receive a notification that you are now friends with the person. That is how people find out that you have a facebook.

Have a friends send friend suggestions to their friends. Or you can look them up by name or email.

Go through the Find Friends that will look through your contact list on your e Mail address(s), also look for your High School and Work Place to see if anyone is listed that way. I found several people I knew many years ago through School links, Then when you get people on your friends list look through their Friends, You might find more
