Pros and Cons of having heaps of Facebook friends?

I have around 800 friends (which is not ridiculous number as some of my facebook friends have 1000') i'm trying to decide if there is any benefit in keeping that many friends on Facebook.
What are some pros and cons of having heaps of friends on facebook or for having not many?

Pros: you are in touch with a lot of people and can use it as free marketing if you need that option. Also you will have quite a lot of people that will be involved with your actions.
Cons:strangers. odds are you do not know a large portion of those people outside of facebook and they have access to your personal info and pictures. also your newsfeed will be cluttered with the activity of all you friends. Personally 400-600 is the perfect range. it keeps things always new and i know 90% of the people on a first name basis
