How can I appear online on facebook when I'm using a mobile phone?

So I'm on my facebook app on my cellphone (both the regular facebook app and the message app) and I would like other people who are on facebook (either on a cellphone or on the computer) to see that I am online in their chat box.
Is there a way to do so?

When you're using the Messenger app, you always show up as online with the green dot next to your name. When you use the Facebook app, you can go to the menu on the left & click on chat's tab; there's a gear on the right corner that will allow you to go either online or offline.
