It is said, that marketing concepts and techniques can be effective in promoting social objectives such as housing, safe driving, and family planning. It could be argued that social causes can be advanced more successfully through applying principles of marketing analysis, planning and control, hence promoting social change.

However, in my opinion we are talking about individual empowerment through econmics, for example using market force to promote social change.

Lets take an example from Finland...
I call this the housing estate theory
Question: why is the not the same urban decay there is in the UK or the USA regarding housing estates or projects?

Firstly, the Finns build houses or flats/appartments for living not for just staying
Secondly, they build rented and sales dwellings together
These two ideas are created it could be argued by this such as:

1. knowledge - the problem is known, housing estates creste urban decay, however we need more houses.

2. desire - there is a desire for most people to change the future of the housing estate toward a happy and safe environment.

3. skills - they know what to do, build a happy and safe environment by building rented and sales houses together.

4. optimism - people in rented dwellings see the benefit and the possiblity of buying there own place while not wishing to give the image of the poorer relation. While the home owners are more willing to keep the environment safe because they have a personal investment.

5. facilitation - home owner have better educational and financal resorses to influence services to the area hither to the rented dweller benefit.

6. stimulation - this it could be argue influences the rented dweller to buy or invest in the properties which in turn rinses the social position of the area.

7. reinforcement - the newspapers say its a nice place to live hence market force or social marketing has achieved it goal of improving the living conditions of the rented dwellers, and ending urban and social decay.
