Only China get involved in your question. Japan and South Korea have performed equality first policy since the end of world war II. They have the lowest Gini coefficient, not only in Asia, but the world. The social effects on China is obvious, including corruption, rent seeking, loss of social glue, environmental degradation, and human rights abuse. Other countries are not counted in East Asia.
