How can I get my mom off my back?
Ok so I turn 18 next month and my mom is still extremely strict. She monitors everything including my passwords, movies, internet history, books I read, youtube videos, texts. I have to go on the computer where she can see me, and she goes through my facebook etc. and deletes friends and reads my messages!
I'm not allowed to walk anywhere, i'm not allowed to leave my court without an adult. I have only have one friend I'm allowed to go to their house, and she is very picky about who can come over. I'm not allowed to go swimming in mixed company;watch pg-13 movies, or if it has any cussing, I'm not allowed to go to the movies because there's "inappropriate" pictures; can't read magazines; no social media other than fb and instagram; she has to approve anything I read; she only lets me listen to the boring old school music, so no mainstream at all; I can't go to dances, the bowling alley, or anywhere that might play "bad" music. She forced me to start homeschool and cut off ALL of my contact with my friends. I can't have a five minute conversation with her without her getting mad at something she didn't like me doing. this is ridiculous! I'm not a bad kid, she has no reason to be such a control freak with me. please give me some advice on how to get her off my back. Talking only leads to arguing and lectures. I want to burst, if she doesn't start choking me I'm going to do something very stupid I regret. Sorry this is so long, there's actually a lot more, I just listed the stuff that ticks me off the most. . btw this hasn't stopped me, I do everything above and much more. she hasn't caught me yet, but it would be nice to be allowed to make my own decisions Ads |

You just talked about my entire middle school and teenage years... You're going to have to do exactly what I did after I graduated high school. Get a job and move out of there QUICK for your sanity. She can't do squat once you're 18 and not living under her roof anymore. good luck

Well if she's not getting off your back, try growing your nails out pretty long then pinch her really hard. I guarantee she will fall off and think twice before jumping back on again.

My friend recently went through this but also her mom would only allow her to eat vegan.. My suggestion is to confront her not rudely because that will only make things worse. Tell her that you are no longer a kid and you want to make decisions for yourself. Note to her you will always love and appreciate her.
