Why is writing essays/papers required in every major?
Why is writing papers or essays required in every major which include the scientific and non scientific majors if degrees like English literature, and child and family studies will earn you low wages?. Also, a lot of people on Yahoo Answers say that for scientific(engineering, science) and non scientific(social studies, history, English Literature, etc) majors, you have to be good at essay writing because if you are not, then you are not good at science and the labor market won't hire you

What's the point of discovering the next cure for athletes foot if you can't tell anybody about it? You will have to write lab reports, keep a legible lab books, and finally write a worthy journal article for peer review. Will you know how to do these things if you never learned the basics of an introduction, a thesis statement, supportive paragraphs, and a conclusion? Most people think it's simple enough... a, b, c, and d, but if you read the first essays they produce, it's usually a messy conglomoration of random related topics lacking in any kind of proper citation. Everyone with a degree really should be able to write a proper essay.
