Facebook chat on itouch is being stupid?

I have the facebook app for the ipod touch and when im on facebook chat, over half the time someone IM's me, just their name will pop up but I can't see what they said. Why does this happen?

i have no idea why this happens. whenever i get on my app and people try to IM me it tells them they cant. the only way ive been able to IM people is by sending them a messege FIRST. i think its just a bug between facebook and there facebook app. i would say just close that IM and start a new IM and send them a message first.
