Need help with Facebook App Development?

I'm totally new to Facebook App Development but I'm very good at PHP, HTML etc.

I'm trying to create an app which would scan through a specific Facebook fields like Name, Username, Language, Location, email etc. I would like to collect this information and use it later to provide different service.

Is this something doable? How can I do it? Do they have to download app first? Which fields are out of reach?(I'm guessing password) Please, let me know. I'm looking forward to learn Facebook App Development.

I'm only looking for guidance on how to do it. I can do the coding on my own. Thanks

Facebook developers (developers.facebook.com) is the best place to go. it contains all the info you need.
and yes, you can get all the fields you asked about (except the password for sure).

How do you want to create the Facebook Application ? There are several SDKs(Software Development Kits) provided by Facebook.

SDK is a sample Kit for creating your own Application.
