Allow follower confirmations on Twitter?

Where on Twitter is the setting that makes it so that I have to confirm someone before they follow me? I only use Twitter for sports updates on my phone and have never tweeted in my life, so I really don't want any followers, especially random-a.ss people.
Can I turn my currently unrpivate profile to private now? Or do I have to start over and make a new one?
