Talk to a girl on Facebook I don't know?

So, there's this girl on facebook I really like and I want to start talking to her. My only problem is that I haven't been on it for about a year, I barely know her at all and I have no idea what to say. Any advice?

Do you know her in person? If so, talk to her face to face.

If you don't know her except for on Facebook, but you really don't know her, how can you even say you like her after not being on Facebook for a year?

I guess you could always re-introduce yourself and ask what has been happening in the year you've been gone. I just think in person would be best.
